Day 5 -- A Special Friend and Fear

Today I looked at our beloved Tommy Dog watching what we call Doggie TV---staring out the front window as the world passes by.  I wanted to experiment with capturing this behavior while minimizing the back light. Multiple meter and exposure settings were tried. I am not totally pleased with the results;  I will keep experimenting.
As I was watching my beautiful friend, he was suddenly grabbed by fear; a navy jet flew over the house.  We live near a training area and he was very used to that sound.  Then came the trip to the Eureka Dunes in Death Valley.
At the Dunes, Military Jets were flying low and close to the surrounding mountains as they needed that practice.  But one self- absorbed idiot decided to terrorize the tourists.  He did a VERY low direct fly over.  As the plane is not heard until it is overhead, it was a sudden, very frightening experience.  We all ducked.  Reaching up and touching the plane seemed possible, and our ears were aching.
As he had never done before, a very panicked Tommy Dog jumped out the window of our vehicle running as fast as he could to parts unknown.  Fortunately, a woman with a group of hikers from Bishop, Ca was able to grab his collar as she openly swore at the pilot.  She visits there often and knows the standard flight procedure which does not include extremely low direct fly overs.  Pilot Boy did it one more time for good measure.
In support of all of our troops in harms way, I have hoped that they would all return home soon, but this jerk made me question my hopes.

Tommy Dog is now fearful of what was normal for him.  He didn't deserve that, as maybe others elsewhere in the world do not deserve the terror our unnecessary wars bring to them.
